AUTO SHOP SAFETY RULES PASCO HIGH SCHOOL

1. Use common sense --THINK.--

2. No running or horseplay.

3. Report all accidents at once.

4. Fire drill----out back (north) door.

5. Drive in/out at a crawl, shop speed is 5 mph.

6. Do not start car unless it is in park/neutral, brake on, clutch pushed in. Use tire blocks if working on a running engine.

7. Test brakes before moving car in/out of shop.

8. Drive your own car in and out of the shop. (YOUR INSURANCE COVERAGE)

9. Use the shop exhaust system. Hook up the hoses and turn on the fan. If your car can't be hooked up to the hoses you must run your engine outside only.

10. Do not work on engines when supported by a engine hoist.

11. Use safety stands under cars, do not trust jacks.

12. Student working under hoist operates the release lever.

13. Do not block doors, electrical panels, passageways, or fire extinguishers

14. You must be properly dressed at all times, no loose clothing, no removing of shirt, would prefer coveralls to be worn when in shop.

15. Do not put coveralls on while going down the stairs.

16. Wash dirty coveralls they are a fire hazard.

17. Clean up spilled water, oil, grease, or solvent immediately.

18. Put dirty rags in the red can with lid by tool room.

19. Do not use compressed air to blow off yourself or others.

20. Report broken equipment at once.

21. Use safety glasses or face shields when operating power tools, or when chipping, buffing, grinding, drilling, wire power brush, compressed air, or working with chemicals.

22. Do not use chrome sockets on impact wrenches.
