 Social media and networking can be vital for businesses in today’s society, but universities and schools need to be informed about the pros and cons of having this implemented for their campus.

Advantages  Connect the Campus  Connect Parents and the Community to the Campus  Help Recruiting Efforts  Increase exposure  Show off campus Disadvantages  Technology Policies May Need Revised  Privacy Concerns  Safety Issues  Resistant Staff

 The six stages include:  Investigation  Analysis  Design  Programming and testing  Implementation  Operation and ongoing maintenance

 Investigation stage – requires researching what other organizations in similar field currently have for their business.  Analysis stage – requires deciding on which functions would be optimal for the school to use for their social media and networking needs.

 Systems design stage – involves the actual design aspect of the social media and networking tools to be used:  Look  Layout  Features  Design elements

 Programming and Testing stage – the creation of the accounts and applying the designs that were decided upon in the previous stage followed by the testing portion which will determine if it is running as required and is ready for implementation.

 Implementation stage – setting up the newly created social media pages and networking tools to be live for public use.

 Operation and ongoing maintenance stage – is keeping the social media and networking tools running optimally and making any updates that may be needed in the future to meet the ongoing needs of the university.
