D EPARTMENT OF E NERGY 3 In FY2004, Networking and Computing Technologies Division has done great things  Migrated the entire Laboratory to Exchange/Outlook for and calendar ahead of schedule (over 4,500 users)  Negotiated labwide Licenses for Red Hat Linux and Mathematica  Implemented a terminal server for improved access to business systems for non-Windows users  Improved cellphone coverage and implemented cellphone stipend program Recast the wireless network for the entire laboratory  Completed Certification and Accreditation of ORNL’s IT infrastructure Implemented New & Calendar Infrastructure Implemented New Site-wide services Improved Voice & Data Networks Addressed DOE requirements Improving ITORNL’s Laboratory Agenda

D EPARTMENT OF E NERGY 6 Cyber vulnerabilities are efficiently identified, reported, and resolved and we are designing new cyber solutions New system vulnerabilities are regularly identified by vendors ORNL Systems are tested for new vulnerabilities System administrators fix or reconfigure systems to resolve vulnerabilities and we are Developing secure solutions for remote and mobile users with one time tokens secured mobile systems with Safe Passage

In 10 years, ORNL Cyber Security and Information Technology will... Provide a cyber-friendly open campus environment supporting thousands/annually of on-site domestic and foreign visiting scientists and guests Users Staff Cyber Security Visitors/ Guests Support a significant “national security” footprint, including best-in-nation classified facilities and computing networks Provide a mobile computing environment where local and virtual remote access are indistinguishable in ease and capability Simultaneously support Open Science and ‘closed’ National Security Provide equal world-wide virtual remote and local access to significant ORNL User Facilities Support ORNL as a significant contributor to Homeland Defense and National Security cyber initiatives and programs
