The Saxmundham and District Community Development Partnership Ltd Saxmundham and District is defined as: The civil parish of Saxmundham and neighbouring parishes, {including but not limited to the civil parishes} of: Benhall and Sternfield Farnham and Stratford St Andrew Friston Great Glemham Kelsale cum Carlton Peasenhall Rendham Sibton Snape Sweffling Yoxford

The Saxmundham and District Community Development Partnership Ltd Objectives (Summarised from Articles) To promote and further social inclusion and cohesion, and improvements in the quality of life of those living in Saxmundham and the surrounding villages. To promote urban and rural regeneration. To promote the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure-time occupation To involve all sectors of the community, including young people, in the objects and running of the Partnership, To support all aspects of education, training and learning. To further such other charitable purposes as the Partnership may decide.

The Saxmundham and District Community Development Partnership Ltd Future role of SACDCP Taking the Saxmundham Community Plan and implementing key areas including the following activities: Focus for the management of funds to be provided to Saxmundham by Suffolk County Council from proceeds of property sales Grant applications to fund community projects (including project staff) Management of community projects Management of facilities (possibly jointly with local organisations) Ensure that sound business principles are followed

The Saxmundham and District Community Development Partnership Ltd Saxmundham Community Plan - Phase 1: Issued questionnaires to surrounding parishes, businesses in and around the town, community organisations and members of SADCDP Developing ‘Worksheets’ to describe the economy, environment, social and community structure, transport and communications Using the above; to identify the key issues for Saxmundham and District and focus on these in Phase 2 to understand issues and opportunities and identify community resources to assist with solutions

The Saxmundham and District Community Development Partnership Ltd Saxmundham Town Council survey of households responded to general questionnaire Extensive youth consultation survey undertaken ‘Community Profile’ analysis report produced Little of this was acted upon because no organisation existed to create an action plan and take up the issues identified

The Saxmundham and District Community Development Partnership Ltd What’s changed since 2001? Increase in population (approx 25%) Improvements to centre of town Increased diversity and number of small shops (although loss of Co-op) Failure to develop new Health Centre Investment in Primary School and Childrens Centre Uncertainty over future of Middle School facility Youth services and facilities reduced Saxmundham now much more ‘vibrant’ than 5 years ago!

The Saxmundham and District Community Development Partnership Ltd Saxmundham’s Community Plan will set the course of developments in and around the town for the next 5-10 years We need your inputs and support to set the direction and priorities We need ideas, assistance, involvement and enthusiasm from everybody to ensure that the District gets its share of community development and funding.
