SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

SUMMARY Sustainable Tourism – tourism development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future generations of tourists. ALL tourists leave an impact on the places they visit! Mass tourism usually has the greatest impact  organized movements of large groups (i.e. cruise) The fastest growing sector in the tourism industry today is SUSTAINABLE TOURISM. This tourism provides the traveller with experiences that have as little impact on the natural environment as possible!

LARGE SCALE SUSTAINABLE TOURISM rafting on the Ottawa River safaris through the Serengeti bicycle touring in Europe (Holland, France etc…)

SMALL SCALE SUSTAINABLE TOURISM camping on a local river hiking along the Niagara Escarpment/Bruce Trail bird watching in a conservation area (i.e. Point Pelee National Park)
