Commemorating World Pneumonia Day Resolution from government proclaiming November 2 nd as World Pneumonia Day Government Announcement about a commitment to pneumonia prevention and control (introduction/application for Hib and/or pneumococcal vaccines, new program) Press conference on Pneumonia control and prevention strategies and opportunities to save lives Advertising/Education about recognizing signs and symptoms, importance of immunization and breastfeeding and access to antibiotics OpEds or letters to legislators/MDG 4 committees on highlighting the need for focus on pneumonia, blogs, website posting, newsletters Policy maker briefings

Engaging Others Ministries of health, UNICEF, WHO, NGOs and others already have ongoing programs which may benefit from increased visibility brought by World Pneumonia Day Opportunity to reinforce training health workers Can encourage policy makers to review policies and evaluate whether more focus is needed to address pneumonia on top of current efforts to improve access to care, etc. Private sector can be source of funding, support for projects or activities. Companies benefit by a more productive work force, fewer lost days at work when children are healthier Educators, other NGO’s can be valuable partners to expand reach Mothers, faith community can help raise awareness about seriousness and signs/symptoms, need for prevention
