To celebrate languages and language learning Camembear's friend Pepito would like to introduce you and his friends to a game of bingo in Spanish! The Game To undertake this activity you will need this Powerpoint file and a print off of the Bingo cards (see opposite) This is an activity simulating a game of bingo: – On Slide 2 there is a mechanism for selecting the ‘bingo balls’ – each of the 10 balls has one of the phrases on the table on slide 3 – Each of the phrases has a corresponding translation (also on the table on slide 3). – As each ball is ‘called’ out of the machine on slide 2 the pupils need to mark off on their cards if they have the corresponding definition – Each card has 6 of the 10 possible phrases – Each card is different – it has 12 randomly selected definitions To start the activity give each pupil (or team) a card and allow them 5 minutes to identify as many of phrases before the activity begins After this initial period then run the bingo game (ensuring that you have set up correctly – see opposite) ‘Call’ each ball one at a time by clicking on the space bar or left mouse button. After each ball has been called allow pupils a few moments to see if they have the corresponding definition. If they do they can ‘cross-off’ the phrase (but ensure that they write the phrase on their cards so you can check them later) The first pupil (or team) to cross off all 6 of their definitions is the winner. Game Setup Note – this game has randomly generated data using a ‘macro’ embedded within the file. For this file to work you must ‘enable’ the macro when prompted (on opening up of the file). This game comes with 10 Spanish words and translations. You can alter these to your own phrases and definitions by deleting and typing in the cells on the table on slide 3. The game also comes with 10 game cards to be printed off (slides 4 to 14) to be handed out to students or teams. Go to slide 15 to print off these bingo cardsslide 15 To set the random nature of the bingo balls and the bingo cards run this slide as a slideshow and click on the relevant buttons below: Click here to randomly set the bingo balls with Spanish phrases and the cards with English phrases Click here to randomly set the bingo balls with Spanish phrases and the cards with English phrases BINGO Teacher’s Guide Click here to randomly set the bingo balls with English phrases and the cards with Spanish phrases Click here to randomly set the bingo balls with English phrases and the cards with Spanish phrases

These are randomly determined (the 12 phrases can be changed for all 10 cards by clicking on the relevant button on slide 4). If you want to generate more than 10 cards you can do so by printing off the first 10 cards and then repressing the relevant button on slide 4 again – this will give you another 10 randomly generated cards.
