New in 2014 Pre-id labels are being used this year [Insert here your school’s plan for pre-id’ing the student test booklets and the answer documents. Please note that grades 3-5 will need to have a label affixed to each test booklet, (reading, math, and science (grade 4)) and grades 6-8 will need one label affixed to the answer document]

Before Testing Review Pages 3-9 Know who you are testing [Insert who makes testing assignments] Double check your testing roster [Insert here – where to report inaccuracies and get corrected rosters] Pick up test materials from [Insert location, person, and time of pick up] Inventory test materials [Insert here where to report discrepancies]

Before Testing Review pages 3 Gather necessary materials – pencils, draft paper, dictionaries, etc. [Insert here who to contact for materials. Schools should have a phone number for test administrators to call if they need something during the test]

New in 2014 Review Pages 7-9 Prepare student demographic information – Affix labels to your testing booklets or answer documents – Complete “bubbles” for those students who do not have a pre-id label Accommodations – WDE is collecting a record of accommodations being used on the 2014 test. – [Insert here your school’s system for designating the accommodation used on each test. These must be filled in for EACH content area. ]

Before Testing Review Pages 5 & 6 Security and Standardization = Valid Test Scores – Test Security Agreement – must be signed (Page 39) – Securing Test Materials – No electronic devices – No reading or discussion of test material – Standardize the testing environment

During Testing Report and Record ALL testing irregularities Administer testing sections in order. [discuss your testing schedule and order here..] Each section must be completed before moving on to the next section. Students make take a recess or lunch break between first draft and final draft, but this may not include an overnight break. The section must be finished on the day it is started.

During Testing Review Page 12 “Answering Questions about the Test” Please follow guidelines under the “You May” column – Remember: all test questions have been through bias and content review with Wyoming teachers. The items on the test have been deemed to be grade level appropriate. Test administrators may not provide definitions to words in a test item or passage. – Correction on Page 12: Test administrators may not read the test questions (prompts) to students unless it is in their IEP or 504 plan. (Next to last When Students Ask...)

Recommended Testing Times 90 minutes for total time (1 st and final draft) Allow your students to finish taking the test, but monitor their progress and encourage them to keep going. The legislature put a 90 minute limitation on the test with the intent that it be completed within a short window of time. When students are no longer making meaningful progress, teachers should collect their testing materials. No student should spend an exorbitant amount of time on any test.

During Testing Review Appendix B: Page 70 Allowable Resources: – [Please review the Allowable Resources page in the DFA. ] – No Graphic Organizers – No Colored Pencils or Highlighters or Pens – No Electronic Dictionaries

Allowable Resources – Word Walls Word walls that have been in use throughout the year are allowed to remain up for the test. A word wall is a systematically organized collection of words only, with no definitions, displayed in large letters on a wall or other large display area in the classroom. All other resources in the room must be taken down or covered up.

During Testing Review Pages , Detailed Directions for the SAWS Administration Follow Specific Directions for the Writing Test for the appropriate grade band. Please read all of the test directions. Do not leave students alone in a room while testing. Test administrator must be in the room at all times Occasionally check student work to be sure they are writing on the correct paper (1 st draft on scratch paper, final in test booklet)

During Testing – Special Forms [If appropriate for general audience, insert text regarding how your school will handle the use and completion of special forms.]

After Testing [Please add text here about how your building will be handling the inventory and collection of test materials.}

Questions??? See Building Administrator – Please run all questions through building administrator, who will then contact ETS or WDE.
