Electrical Equipment Do not unplug electronics by pulling on the cord. Do not stretch the cord across an aisle. NO Food or Drinks. Do not attempt to make repairs. Always turn electronics off after use. Do not overload power bars. Replace frayed cords.

Computers Do not insert anything into the computer. Avoid overheating. Be careful not to know anything off of your desk.

Monitors Do not attempt to repair. Adjust brightness and focus for comfort. Avoid glare. Use a soft cloth to clean.

Memory Devices Username and Passwords—BHS Lab—Do not share with others. Rewritable CDs/DVDs Flash Drives 3.5” floppy diskettes

Memory Devices Continued Rewritable CDs/DVDs— avoid scratches, smears, easily breakable Flash Drives—shown in picture; range in memory capability, easy and convenient—best to right click on icon in the tray to Safely Remove Hardware before extracting the flash drive from the USB port 3.5” floppy diskettes— becoming obsolete, easy to erase/loose data, slow

Work Surfaces Store sharp objects facing the back of drawer. Use a staple remover to remove stapes— not fingernails. Avoid clutter on your work surface.

Cabinet/Desk Drawers Never reach in blindly. Be careful to avoid tipping—load the cabinet from bottom to top. Do not leave drawers open.

Emergency Procedures Primarily In A Workplace Setting Know phone #s—911. Know evacuation routes. (Posted by my door.) Fire bell—short rings. Tornado bell—long rings. Know where exits are located. Report unauthorized visitors immediately. Know location of first aid kits.

Working After Hours In A Workplace Setting Always have phone nearby. Lock all doors. Become acquainted with custodial staff. Park near lights. Keep car keys ready. Request escort from security personnel if uncomfortable walking alone.

Sign And Date Sign and date that you have been given a copy of safety procedures. (File: safety acknowledgement). A safety test will be given during the next class period.
