He is a regular heavy drinker and has been for 10 years. His wife tends to over for him when he is intoxicated. There have been occasions in which he has missed his children’s activities due to his alcoholism. Due to his drinking, Harvey is about to lose his job because of his excessive absences and recently got a DUI. The need for treatment at his point and time in Harvey’s life is essential to his overall well being and that of this families as well. Harvey needs the quit drinking in order for him to learn new coping skills that he can utilize and substitute for his drinking. Harvey also needs his treatment to provide him ways of expressing himself effectively and how to engage with this family more and stop being in denial.
