COST296/IHY Coordinated Investigation Program (CIP) 2/2

 Participations to Outreaches initiatives: March 2007 (call for drawings and calendar) Open Doors Day at IHY Observatories and Museums This is a special activity coordinated by IHY-EUROPE where institutions, observatories, and educational sites open their doors to the public and host special presentations on the heliophysical environment. Stay tuned for details. IHY Contact: Carine BRIANDCarine BRIAND  Participation to International Meetings 2007 European Geosciences Union, General Assembly, Vienna, Austria April 2007 Second European General Assembly of IHY, Torino (Italy) June , 2007 IUGG XXIV Assembly", Perugia (Italy) July , 2007

Realization of the European COST296 - IHY calendar During the week March 2007 will be launched the competition for the European kid drawings on COST296 - IHY. The best drawings will be published on the European Calendar A poster to promote the event will be prepared along with presentations and/or other materials to be distributed to the teachers and students to inspire drawings. National committees will be constituted to select 2 drawings per country. A common day (September 2007) will be dedicated to the presentation of the Calendar and proclamation of winners. We strongly believe this initiative could serve as a good promoting tool for COST296 activities all over Europe. Moreover the calendar could represent an opportunity of cohesion among the youngest European generation!

Arrangement of the public conferences and launch for Kids Drawings for the Calendar (March 2007). Exploration of possible funding sources by all the CT. Single national initiatives are suggested. We ask extraordinary funds to MC to support this activity. Circulation of “calls for contributions” to participate to the international meetings among the CT members. Contribution of COST296/IHY will then be prepared by the CT members and will be given by volunteers that will attend those meetings. Adhesion to the “Open doors” initiative: the CT will discuss by the actions to be done. Next steps
