FIRE SAFETY

Journal 1.Does your family have a meeting place if a fire were to happen at your house? a. Where is your family’s meeting place? b. If you don’t have a meeting place, where would a good meeting place be at your house? 2. Write the safety notes information in your workbook, pg. 48.

Fire Safety Leave the house immediately. Call the fire department from a neighbor’s house or use a cell phone. If you are in the house, stay below the smoke line, and try to keep your nose and mouth covered. Before opening a closed door, feel it. If it is hot, leave the room by another route. If your clothing catches fire, stop, drop, and roll. NEVER go back into a burning building. Pg.49

TO DO List: 1.Turn your Conflict Scenarios into the basket. 2.Fill in page 51 in your workbook using my PowerPoint Packet (Classroom copies, please don’t write on my packets.) 3.Copy the notes for Fire Safety on the Fire Safety handout. (Half-sheet of paper.) 4.Answer the 2 Fire Safety questions in your journal. 5.Work on your Fire Escape Plan assignment. Draw your floor plan on a blank piece of paper. You may borrow colored pencils and markers on the front table (they need to be returned at the end of the period). If your class fails to work during the class period, the substitute will collect your Fire Escape Plan, otherwise the assignment is due on Monday. Today is an independent work day. That means you need to be sitting in your assigned seat, working on the assigned work. Please remember my expectations: -Treat the substitute with more respect than you would treat me. -Work on the assigned tasks. -Leave my room clean and return any supplies you used. On Monday we will be watching a video and reviewing. Tuesday is your test for this unit. Have a great weekend!
