What are the three branches of government? Legislative Executive Judicial

What are separation of powers? Each branch has separate powers

What are checks and balances? Each branch checks on the other to make sure they are doing their jobs. Keeps one group from getting too powerful

What is the job of the legislative branch? Make laws

What is the job of the executive branch? Carry out or enforce laws

What is the job of the judicial branch? Make sure laws are Constitutional

What are the requirements to become a Representative? 25 yrs. Old U.S. Citizen for 7 yrs Live in the state in which you represent

What is the term of a representative? 2 years

How many U.S. Representatives do we have? 435

What does the 4 th amendment guarantee citizens? Unreasonable searches and seizures

What does the 5 th amendment guarantee citizens? Double Jeopardy Self Incrimination Due Process of Law

What does the 6 th Amendment Guarantee? Right to a fair, fast, and public trial Right to be present in court with a lawyer represent them, even if they cannot afford one

What does the 7 th amendment guarantee you Right to trial by a jury in any case involving more than twenty dollars

What does the 8 th amendment guarantee you? Protects us from having excessive bail or by punished in cruel and unusual ways

What does the 9 th Amendment guarantee you? Other rights not listed in the Constitution are also given to the people

What does the 10 th amendment guarantee you? Gives all powers not specifically listed in the Constitution to the states and their people
