S.A.L.S.A. BY BEAR

What is Exploratory AND WHO CAN JOIN Exploratory is a subject that 7 th and 8 th graders take for a semester during that year. It really does help us as young adults learn how to do Community Service work in Newell or any other place. Interview- Mrs. Williamson – “What I feel is that middle school kids, if given a job, can get it done and better when they work together. It’s my favorite class next to coaching basketball and volleyball.”

Senior Trey D. says that last year’s seniors started the exploratory when they were 8 th graders and then it was changed to the S.A.L.S.A. class. Mrs. Williamson was a great teacher for S.A.L.S.A. She kept us on track and really made it fun. What we did We walked down to the park and fixed it up stuff like the volleyball net then we played a game or two. Then we picked up around the football field and school. Who started it ?

What Exploratory Does In 2013 the students in S.A.L.S.A did a lot of things from painting to fixing a volleyball net. Working with the students in S.A.L.S.A.is a great experience for the 7 th and 8 th graders in middle school.

The Name S.A.L.S.A list of all the things S.A.L.S.A. did. Wash the halls walls clean the bathrooms Paint the gym walls Picked up trash around the school The S.A.L.S.A. class has a lot of hands on work. S.A.L.S.A STUDENTS ARE LEARNING SERVICE ACTIVATIES

What have others thought about it ? Joe J – “I thought it taught us how to help out our community.” Skylar G- “I think that SALSA is a great opportunity to help our community in many ways and we all had a lot of fun working together.” Jakota M- “I liked the feeling I got from helping other people when we did the SALSA group. And to help us clean our community up, and set examples for younger peers. PEACE I’M OUT!!”

This year’s 8 th graders thoughts Mackenzie – “I REALLY LIKE DOING STUFF FOR THE COMMUNITY AND THATS WHAT SALSA HELPS US DO AND IT HELPS US JUST GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY.” Garret – “YOU DON’T JUST SIT AT A DESK AND DO NOTHING. IT’S MORE LIKE GETTING OUT AND DOING HANDS ON WORK.”
