BORAT! wawaweewaa “What's up with it, Vanilla face? Me and my homie Azamat just parked our slab outside. We're looking for somewhere to post up our Black asses for the night. So, uh, bang bang, skeet skeet, n*****. Just a couple of pimps, no hoes”

Film Poster Name of film is the first thing to be seen He has a travel bag His character is very comical looking Very simple background Key names are listed a the top which tells targets a wider audience Credits are around the edge Camera angle looking down Tag line is hard to see The poster can be placed in numerous locations

How the poster follows conventions The poster follows many conventions as it targets a certain audience, this is done by having simple iconography. the target audience will be fans of comedy road trips. The close up on Borat’s face also suggests that this is a comedy film. The position of the main character conforms to film posters. The poster does not conform to all the conventions of film posters because the release date of the film is not specified.

Stereotyping/ ideology A stereotype is a phrase relating to all the members of class or set. The film poster does stereotype him…. There is an ideology in the poster that he is going travelling to America. This is conveyed via the bag and flag. The fact that he is going to America for Kazakhstan may show that the country as a whole is in pursuit of the “American dream”. Is he a caricature? Satire?

Financial side…  The film was distributed by 20 th Century Fox This is key because they are a multi national company they can afford to have a big budget high quality glossy film  The film made a gross revenue of $261 million with a budget of $18 million. Jak sie masz? My name-a Borat. I like you.

TRAILER ANALYSIS.

reenplay/vi / LINK. Length: 2.27minutes Structure: Handheld Camera.

Where would you see this trailer and does it connect with its target audience? As this is a full length trailer as opposed to a teaser, you are not as likely to see it on television as you would on the internet or at cinemas. We feel that even though this trailer does not subvert to the conventions of other trailers of this genre, it still has a lucid portrayal of its comical road trip plot which is clear to its target audience. There are sensitive issues and taboos raised in this trailer which would not be well targeted at the older generation, possibly older more conservative, traditional adults may be offended by its content. The trailer is more apt for a younger generation who enjoy unusual comedies and we feel as a group that it is not gender biased, but more culturally biased.

Set in Kazakhstan and America in the noughties; juxtaposition of cultures. Very culturally specific, establishing shots of New York and yellow taxis make it very obvious where the location is and how out of place the protagonist antihero is. and cinematography of BORAT. Filmed with a handheld camera, breaks conventions of a comedy road trip. The props used are very overtly used which helps create a more fast paced montage, which captures the audiences attention. CHICKEN.Buuuuck!!
