BSI Insert adjunct ( NP ) Select appropriate size Measure Lubricate Fully inserts with bevel facing septum Ventilate with BVM and room air

Attaches BVM to Oxygen BSI Assemble regulator to tank Open tank Check for leaks Check tank pressure Attach BVM to regulator Deliver 12 to 15 Lpm Ventilate at a rate of 10 to 20 bpm and a volume of at least 800 ml

Unconscious ( no gag reflex )

BSI Open airway manually Elevate tongue and insert adjunct OP Select size Measure Insert *Remove

Ventilate with BVM unattached to oxygen Hyperventilate Ventilations are without difficulty Attaches BVM to Oxygen BSI Assemble regulator to tank Open tank Check for leaks Check tank pressure Attach BVM to regulator Deliver 12 to 15 Lpm Ventilate at a rate of 10 to 20 bpm and a volume of at least 800 ml

*After 30 seconds examiner / partner auscultates and reports clear and equal breath sounds bilaterally Medical control orders insertion of a dual lumen airway *Examiner / partner takes over ventilations

Directs partner to hyperventilate Check and prepares airway device Lubricates Properly position head Perform tongue-jaw lift Insert Inflate pharyngeal cuff and remove syringe Inflate distal cuff and remove syringe

Always be prepared to……….. Confirm placement Lung sounds Abdominal sounds If necessary change tubes *Confirmed Secure Always be prepared to………..

Suction Turn on / prepare Assures presence of mechanical suction Inserts suction tip without suction Apply suction

Mouth to Mask BSI Connect one-way valve Open airway Manually or confirm with adjunct Ventilate at proper volume and rate Connect to high concentration of oxygen Adjust flow rate Continue ventilating *Must ventilate for at least 30 seconds
