A533 – DISPLAY STAND. BRADLEY JOHNSON

SITUATION An eye-catching and effective method of displaying and promoting a new product to people. I could make poster, stickers, leaflets, display stands and packaging to promote a new product to people. Possible products could be; football boots aimed at teenagers, t-shirts aimed at women aged 16-35, coffee mugs aimed at anybody who is aged 35 and above. I can also make other things like dv ds aimed at anyone who likes watching films. i can promote books, phones, earphones

ANALYSIS My idea will be aimed at people who wants and like special editions of football boots. My display stand will also be a place where the owner can keep the boots safe from getting ruined while not in use. The customer must be able to keep the boots safe at all times while not playing, so my material and quality of the product must be strong and secure. My product must have an underneath section where the footballer can keep other footballing stuff with his boots e.g sock tape and shin pads. The display stand must also keep these accessories safe and secure. I could make my display stand out of a several amounts of card, including; grey board, foam board, white board and corrugated cardboard. I chose these types of materials because they are strong and can hold everything I want my display to hold. My display stand can be used in shop windows to attract customers to buy the product.

SPECIFICATION It will look very sharp and professional. This will invite customers to buy the product that I will be promoting. I will be making a product stand. This will promote a certain product and it will try boost sales of the certain product This product will have to be strong enough to with stand 5x its weight. This will ensure that if you dropped the stand it wouldn’t break. I will be making this product out of cardboard or paper because they are sustainable and recyclable which are good for the earth I will make the edges of my product round so that it wont hurt anybody and it is safe My product will be quite big because it has to hold a product for customers to look at I would like my product to be quite cheap as it will be made out of cardboard

4 IDEAS:1 ST IDEA CD: The stand will lean on its back This will hold the cd This is a simple stand that will hold the cd perfectly. This design can fit in modern houses and still look smart

4 IDEAS: 2 ND IDEA Mug: The mugs will fit inside these holes Flat bottom so that the stand will stand up straight This stand can fit on a table, or on the side of the kitchen, this would be a nice decoration in the kitchen

4 IDEAS: 3 RD IDEA DVD: The dvd will be placed and held here The stand will hold its weight here This stand can hold up to 5 dvds. It will be nice to put these display stands next to your dvd player or tv

4 IDEAS: 4 TH IDEA These will give the boot stability and a lift on the display stand The boots will rest on a tilt Graphics will be placed around the side Im going to develop this idea because I believe this would be fun to make

DEVELOPMENT These are used to hold the boots in place, they will hold the studs. The boots will be at a slant. This will show a good angle of the boots. The net, before the box was made.

IMPROVEMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT Instead of two little platforms coming out of the display stand, I will produce two big platforms which will give the boots some more balance and lift. I will make the net more accurate in measurements so there are no gaps in the final product.

IMPROVED DEVELOPMENT I have improved this design by adding long platforms for the boots to rest upon. This will look better if the boots are on a slant. I will need to fix the gaps.

Over hanging side, needs to be cut shorter I made two left hand sides, rather than one right and one left Tabs didn’t fit inside the slots made.

I sorted these problems out by moving the tabs so that the over hanging side, was not over hanging any more. I made one left side and one right side to sort the sides and make it fit together, I done this by flipping the net. I shifted the tabs so that they slotted into the correct spaces.

GRAPHICS DEVELOPMENT Some of these designs will be placed around the display stand. This design will cover my whole display stand

FINAL NET I will use this to cut the printed graphics out with the laser.

FINAL NETS AND GRAPHICS I will print this on to 400 mic card

PLANNING

FINAL PRODUCT

RECORD OF MAKING I drew this on Serif Draw Plus X6, I used the drawing tools to create the shapes, and then the fill tools to colour them and do the graduations. After I made the design I used many different backgrounds to see which worked best. I was able to do this using the colour and drawing tools again

To create this net I used 2D design, the green lines stand as a folding line, and the red lines stand as a cut line. I had to put the nets on two separate designs because they wouldn’t fit onto the page.

I created the background on Serif Draw Plus X6, by putting a plain black background underneath drawn nike logos. I drew the nike logos with the colour and drawing tools. I then transferred the background onto my net (2D Design), and added the logos I had drawn.

I printed my designs straight onto 400 mic solid board, using the A2 Canon printer. I then trimmed the card down to fit the laser cutter.

RECORD OF MAKING We cut both nets onto scrap card to use as templates, to line up the printed card. We then cut the printed card out using the laser machine.

RECORD OF MAKING Having cutting out I folded it on the fold lines and glued it together with the glue gun.

TESTING It will look very sharp and professional. This will invite customers to buy the product that I will be promoting. I asked the shop I want to promote it for and they said it was very clean and sharp. I also asked people who are part of a football group, they said my product is very appealing and they would be enticed to buy what I am promoting. This product will have to be strong enough to with stand 5x its weight. This will ensure that if you dropped the stand it wouldn’t break. I dropped my product from a high place and the product stayed exactly the same with no scratches. The product can with stand more than 5x its weight, which makes it reliable for holding things.

EVALUATION It will look very sharp and professional. This will invite customers to buy the product that I will be promoting. In my testing I found out that people thought it was very sharp and professional. I will be making a product stand. This will promote a certain product and it will try boost sales of the certain product I made the product stand promoting the sale of football boots. This product will have to be strong enough to with stand 5x its weight. This will ensure that if you dropped the stand it wouldn’t break. In my testing I found out that it could with stand more than 5x its weight and wouldn’t break when dropped from a high place. I will be making this product out of cardboard or paper because they are sustainable and recyclable which are good for the earth I made it out of 400 mic solid board, so that I can be recycled. I will make the edges of my product round so that it wont hurt anybody and it is safe I didn’t make the edges round because I thought it looked more professional with sharp edges. My product will be quite big because it has to hold a product for customers to look at I made a scale size model so that I can hold children's football boots as the full size model couldn’t be printed on the laser cutter. I would like my product to be quite cheap as it will be made out of cardboard My product is made from 400 mic solid board so it is fairly cheap to make.

MODIFICATIONS Next time I will make a full size model by hand. I will do this so it can hold a adults size football boot, instead of a children's football boot I would create a backboard, so it would catch more peoples attention, when on a shelf. Next time I may create a battery powered turn table that will show all sides of the product.
