Justice-course Athens October JUSTICE Some Golden Rules when running transnational projects

Justice-course Athens October JUSTICE Golden rules in transnational projects Experiences collated from  European Schools Project  TRANSPRO projects (

Justice-course Athens October JUSTICE Golden rules in transnational projects Planning  School/institution structure  Curriculum (cross curricular or subjectbased)  Holidays  Exam periods  At least two persons from each school/institution engaged in the project

Justice-course Athens October Golden rules in transnational projects Planning  Local ICT support  If necessary, ICT training  Testing and training the use of the systems together with your counterpart. JUSTICE

Justice-course Athens October Golden rules in transnational projects ICT  always write a headline in the theme column  scanner  digital camera  video editing equipment 2 JUSTICE

Justice-course Athens October Golden rules in transnational projects Planning  Plan the collaboration well ahead of time  When you have received an letter - reply as soon as possible. Above all DO REPLY!!!  Always answer requests that the coordinator has for the interim and final report  Teachers/PARTNERS should give each other a good introduction to their working conditions  Keep each other informed of irregularities that may disrupt the communication: illness, technical problems, promotion..  Above all keep each other informed!! 3 JUSTICE

Justice-course Athens October Golden rules in transnational projects Netiquette  Be diplomatic. Criticism is always harsher when written  Use upper and lower case text, because MESSAGES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS HAVE THE EFFECT OF SHOUTING  Be calm. You may have misinterpreted the implied criticism or missed ironic humour in a message; don’t send replies while you are still hot under the collar (’flaming’) 4 JUSTICE

Justice-course Athens October Material on the net that can be used in transnational projects for pupils : For English: For French: JUSTICE

9 JUSTICE What have we achieved?  Improvement of oral and written English skills  Improvement in communication through Internet etc--  “ of computer skills  It helps to know our own situation better - in order to contrast it with other situations and/or problems in different counties  More interest in the development of some parts of our syllabus  We developed friendship between the partners  We have introduced an European dimension in our daily work  Teachers have worked more together  We have co-operated and worked together with different subjects  Some teachers have been motivated to learn more about ICT in Education  Pupils have taken responsibility for production of our web-sites etc.

Justice-course Athens October JUSTICE Our students: Positive aspects:   It helps them to open up their minds   They become aware of the importance of communication   Santomera, Bari, Pribram etc are much more than just a  place on the map   It improves group-work and project-work Problems may be:   They are not used to co-operate with partners in other countries   It’s hard to organize this the best way   for all pupils – still a dream

Justice-course Athens October JUSTICE General speaking about the work:   We have learnt about different school-systems   ICT helps us to present our work to many people But   To co-ordinate the work is a challenge   To exchange information and help each other with information - can  be much better   Specific vocabulary in the scientific parts of the project would have  been good   Problems with computers in some counties is a real problem   Bureaucracy demands a lot a paper work, and in some countries  the bureaucracy is exhausting.

Justice-course Athens October JUSTICE But my conclusion is:  It is much work, there are always some challenges ahead, but Comenius gives pupils and teacher good training in co-operation and internationalisation.  And travelling is also a lot of fun - and thanks to Socrates it’s exclusive for us that have joined it.

Justice-course Athens October Remember K I S S Keep It Small and Simple JUSTICE JUSTICE

Justice-course Athens October JUSTICE  But whatever we do we must remember that we should have a pupil-active school…. AND

Justice-course Athens October JUSTICE I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they posses inside. Give them a sense of pride. To make it easier, Let the children’s laughter, Remind us of how we used to be…… - George Benson “Greatest Love of them All”
