Reflection Letter Dear Reader, Like every single person who goes through school, my writing has greatly improved. However, in some ways, my techniques have not changed. In elementary school, I LOVED to write about anything. My teacher in second grade had us keep a writing journal and she gave us daily prompts. I had the opportunity to write about anything my imagination allowed, and I understood there were no limits to what I could produce. I was confident and comfortable with everything I wrote. Middle school brought upon a new challenge. I had all these ideas in my head ready to be written down, but I was struck with a problem: how to organize it all. The first research paper I wrote in seventh grade was horrible. I had no real concept of how to organize my thoughts into a really good paper. I started to create outlines for all of my papers. That was a very important step in my writing career. Writing papers, essays, etc, was easier until my junior year in AP Language and Composition. The whole class was about how to write and analyze papers. I thought this took the beauty and the therapeutic effect out of writing. However, I was wrong, like usual. I read many different books in my junior and senior year, and realized I wanted my writing to be as good as those authors. I envied their unique styles and their effective ways to capture their audience. Since I’ve realized that, I have really tried to take time to make sure my writing is well-crafted but still my own. I think I have successfully combined what I believed in elementary school with what I learned in middle school. I only hope to improve even more from here. Sincerely, Annabelle Strait
