Unit 11: Sources of energy SPEAKING Unit 11: Sources of energy

Warm up Work in pairs and deal with a list of a jumbled words. Belaviaal Telmidi Enrwealeb Souremon Olars nepal Atoinrdai Oredyhcetrliytci

Answers: available limited renewable enormous solar panel radiation hydroelectricity

Task 1: Advantages and Disadvantages Read the following table and choose if the statement has advantage (A) and disadvantage (D) or not. Then compare your results with a partner’s.

Statements A D 1. Fossil fuels will be exhausted within a relatively short time. 2. Geothermal heat is available only in a few places in the world. 3. If the wind does not flow, there is no wind energy. 4. Water power provides energy without pollution. 5. A nuclear reaction releases radiation which is dangerous to the environment. 6. Solar energy is not only plentiful and unlimited but also clean and safe. 7. It is expensive to build a dam for hydroelectricity. D D D A D A D

Task 2: Introduce the dialogue (books closed) Work in pairs to fill in the gaps with the words in the box below then practice the dialogue you have finished. A: I think/believe that ...1...can be an alternative source of energy. B. Why do you think/ believe so? A. because our major source of energy is ... 2.... while the wind is...3 ... and ....4 . B. I know it is also ...5 ... to the environment. However, it is not .. 6.. when there is no wind. available, abundant, clean and safe, running out, unlimited, wind, wind power

Task 3: Work in groups Express your belief on the increasing use of alternative sources in the future, using the ideas from task 2.

Homework Write a composition to talk about the alternative source of energy that you think is the most possible one for our country .

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION!
