The 4 Day Programme consists of: PART 1 – 2 days: Exploring a variety of strategies for Effective Teaching and Learning in PSHE education. The main focus of the two days will be how to develop a skills based approach to PSHE education in the Whole School context including the impact that values can have on practice. The sessions will be interactive and cover the key components of effective PSHE pedagogy. PART 2 – 2days; Building on part 1 of the programme Effective Teaching and Learning in PSHE education. Part 2 focuses on Difference and Diversity across the key components of PSHE including Sex and Relationships Education (SRE), Drug and Alcohol Education (DE), Emotional Health and Wellbeing (EHWB), Economic Wellbeing including Financial Capability (EWB/FC), Staying Safe (SS) Health and Wellbeing price offer £750 + VAT National PSHE CPD Programme Improving Teaching and Learning in PSHE The National PSHE CPD programme provides a professional development opportunity for Teachers and other professionals currently responsible for the planning and delivery of PSHE education. This consists of four days training outlined below. Both parts must be completed to earn the credits at HE1-3. The programme will be led by Bradford Health and Wellbeing Consultants and will be delivered in Bradford. National PSHE CPD Programme Improving Teaching and Learning in PSHE Courses Offer £150 per person per course (outside Bradford LA) Additional Courses to support the PSHE CPD Programme or Schools Development in PSHE education: Thursday 3rd November 2011: SRE Course Day 1 - Professional Development of Sex and Relationships Education in the Context of The Schools White Paper This course focuses on the importance of SRE and it’s place within school. It will provide opportunities to review current practice and raise confidence in the planning and delivery across all key stages. Thursday 10 th November 2011: Leading and Managing PSHE Education. This course will provide an overview of the subject to new PSHE education co- ordinators and address how it contributes to wider government initiatives. There will be a focus on whole school planning and delivery including drugs and alcohol education and sex and relationships education. Thursday 17th November 2011: SRE Course Day 2 – Moving on with SRE:- Exploring the ‘R’ in Sex and Relationships. This course explores the importance of teaching about positive relationships and respect for difference and diversity. Participants will identify and learn about mutually supportive relationships and consider issues such as gender role, sexuality, sexual orientation, sexual exploitation and domestic violence. Wednesday 7th December 2011: Drugs Education in the Context of the Government Drug Strategy The Drug Strategy 2010 identifies key priorities ‘Reducing demand, restricting supply, building recovery: supporting people to live a drug free life’. Learners are encouraged to live healthy lifestyles and choose not to take illegal drugs. This course explores how we can make Drugs Education a Whole School Approach including managing drugs incidents.
