Review: The three sections of the of the Tabernacle are??? What are the furnishings in the Outer court? Holy Place? Most Holy Place? Who served: In the court? In the Holy Place? Silence reigned in the Holy of Holies. Unheard voice of the golden vessels quietly spoke of Christ. Paul describes this silent glory to the Corinthians: ‘for the light of the knowledge of the glory of God shines’ in the face of Jesus Christ’ (2 Cor. 4:6). 4Tabernacle #6 Polson

None but the priestly family ever entered the Holy place or Most Holy place. Only those called by God’s Amazing grace are part of the Holy Priesthood today. Only those who by sovereign mercy are ‘a chosen generation, a royal priesthood’ have the privilege to appreciate the spiritual significance of these symbolic truths. 1 Pet. 2:5, 9. Table of Showbread 6Tabernacle #6 Polson

Exodus 25: Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood: two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof. 24 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about. 25 And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand breadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about. 26 And thou shalt make for it four rings of gold, and put the rings in the four corners that are on the four feet thereof 7Tabernacle #6 Polson

27 Over against the border shall the rings be for places of the staves to bear the table. 28 And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be borne with them. 29 And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and spoons thereof, and covers thereof, and bowls thereof, to cover withal: of pure gold shalt thou make them. 30 And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway. 8Tabernacle #6 Polson

Leviticus 24:5-9 5 And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake. 6 And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the L ORD. 7 And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the L ORD. 8 Every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the L ORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant. 9 And it shall be Aaron's and his sons; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the L ORD made by fire by a perpetual statute. Tabernacle #6 Polson9

1.Its Material 2.Its Dimension 3.Its Decoration 4.Its contents 5.Its significance 6.Its Utensils 7.Its coverings. 10Tabernacle #6 Polson

1. Its Material. Typifies the union of perfect humanity and deity in the person of Christ. The perfect God-Man is the basis of all communions with God Ark of the covenant Shittim wood overlaid with pure gold. One and half cubits high. Ornamented with a crown of gold. Provided with rings and staves. Something placed upon them: Mercy seat Table of Showbread Shittim wood overlaid with pure gold. One and half cubits high. Ornamented with a crown of gold. Provided with rings and staves. Something placed upon them: 12 loaves of bread Tabernacle #6 Polson11

2. Its Dimensions " Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood: two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof" 2X 1X 1 ½ The same height as the Ark, though it fell short of its length and breadth. Our communion with God may rise to the level of our understanding of the two natures in the person of Christ. Yet there is a breadth or fullness of perfection in Him which we presently fail to comprehend and enjoy. The length of the Table was two cubits. Number 2 speaks of communion—"How can two walk together except they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3). The breadth of the Table was one cubit, which speaks of unity, for unity is important for fellowship. Tabernacle #6 Polson12

3. Its Decoration. “And thou shall overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about. And thou shall make unto it a border of a hand-breadth round about, and thou shall make a golden crown to the border thereof round about" Crown – Glorified Christ Heb 2:9; 1 Pet 5:4 Crowned border – Protection – Absolute security Num 4:7 “Border of handbreadth” – all else in cubits. "Neither shall any pluck them out of My hand" Jn 10:28 Christ, the Table, maintains the believer before God; Christ, the border, secures him there. The border too has a crown as well as the Table. Both sustenance and security are the blessings we enjoy through Christ. John 10:28 Tabernacle #6 Polson13

4. Its contents "And thou shall set upon the table show-bread before Me always“ This showbread consisted of twelve loaves or cakes, made of fine flour; baked, and placed in two rows upon the Table, on which was sprinkled pure frankincense for a memorial. Here they remained before the Lord for seven days, after which they were removed and eaten by Aaron and his sons, in the holy place (Lev24:5-9). Tabernacle #6 Polson14

The table and the bread are closely connected. Yet they have a distinctive significance. They are considered separately - Hebrews 9:2 A close parallel is found in 1 Cor 10:21 and 11:20: the Lord’s table (10: 21), the Lord’s supper (11: 20). The one speaking of the character of our fellowship, The other the substance of our fellowship. The Table points to the person of Christ as the Sustainer of fellowship between God and His saints. The bread directs our thoughts to Christ as the Substance of it. Tabernacle #6 Polson15

The bread points to Christ Himself. (Heb)Lechem Panim = bread of the presence; (Gk) Prothesis Artos = bread of presentation. Bread was before the face of God always. Tells of His acceptance ; In whom Father delights Lev 24:5 Heb. “Challoth” = perforated cakes. Fine flour  perfect humanity, absolute sin-lessness Baked  Christ exposed to God’s judgment. No. 12 points to 12 Tribes represented. Representation involves representative. Christ identify himself with God’s covenant people. PureFrankincense – sweet fragrance of Christ to God. Tabernacle #6 Polson16

Tabernacle #6 Polson17 The striking passage in the New Testament. Brings out the identification of the Lord with His people and they with Him. "The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread" (1 Cor. 10:16, 17). The twelve loaves then speak of Christ in immediate connection with His people.

The cakes were all of the same quality, size and weight, showing that the smallest tribe was represented equally with the greatest. Two rows tells each one would be seen equally as much as another. Even the least Christian, is accepted in Christ and are represented by Christ. As God’s covenant people, we have an equal standing and an equal nearness to Him. After 7 days before God, priestly family enjoyed it. Christ delights both the heart of God and His people. Eating must be in Holy Place – Feed Christ only when in communion with God! Tabernacle #6 Polson18

5. Its Significance v.23 Thou shall also make a table of acacia wood: ‘Also’ suggests a close connection with v.22. “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat” Thus – table has to do with communion. Blood on Mercy seat – Christ basis of fellowship. Table - Christ as the substance of our fellowship. Table – Jehovah’s feast of love for His saints! Tabernacle #6 Polson19

Significance 2 Sam 9 – Table - Picture of communion. David’s question? Kindness to house of enemies, For the sake of his beloved Son. Mephibosheth shall eat bread always at my table Brought to the place of most intimate fellowship. John 6:32,33. Bread that came down from heaven John 6: Eating His flesh, drinking His blood. Refers to His death – Requires incarnation. Humanity and Deity are put together. Tabernacle #6 Polson20

6. Its Utensils v.29, "and thou shall make the dishes thereof, and spoons thereof, and covers thereof, and bowls thereof, to cover withal: of pure gold shalt thou make them" The dishes – Used when the bread removed and eaten by priestly family. Spoons and cover - in use with the frankincense. The bowls – used for the drink offerings which were poured out before the Lord in the holy place (Num. 28:7). The drink-offerings expression of thanksgiving. The fact that the bowls were used in connection with the drink-offerings, tells us that communion is the basis of thanksgiving! Tabernacle #6 Polson21

Its Utensils The rings and staves: Provision for journeying. Provision is feeding upon Christ in communion. Wherever God led them, table accompanied! Wherever the table went bread was on it!! Wherever a Believer is, even in jail (John Bunyan), Or in great adversities of life, Precious Christ is present to feed upon and commune with! Tabernacle #6 Polson22

7. Its Coverings. Numbers 4:7,8. Three coverings while Israel is on the march. Cloth of blue – Christ as bread from heaven is to be recognized and enjoyed far above all that the earth can offer. Only seen by priestly family. Cloth of scarlet – Christ’s earthly glory – “worm”(Heb) Reminds us of the glory of cross – seen by priests only. Covering of badgers’ skin – seen by all – Lord’s humiliation. Unattractive to the human eye. Repels all unholy influences and defiling of world. He could touch the leper – Yet not being polluted. Nothing of the earth could tarnish His infinite glory. Tabernacle #6 Polson23

Lesson for Life Would you please take a spiritual check up today? Are you a Sunday ‘fast food’ Christian or are you enjoying Christ daily and lavishly in a meal of communion? Your spiritual sustenance is directly proportional to how much you partake of Christ’s substance in your daily encounter of Him. Tabernacle #6 Polson24
