UNC Professional Disposition Qualities Rubric for Pre-Service Teachers

UNC Student Teaching requirements: Candidates must pass the Praxis or Place test prior to Student Teaching. Candidates may not take any additional courses with Student Teaching without prior approval from the program coordinator and the STE Director All PTEP field experiences and methods courses, need to be successfully completed prior to Student Teaching. Student Teaching outside the immediate UNC supervision area may or may not be approved. Candidates must attend all mandatory teacher education orientations. Candidates must establish and maintain minimum GPA requirements in each level of the appropriate program. Teacher Candidates cannot be placed in a school where they were once students or where they have a close relative attending and/or working.

Student Teaching Placement √ Student Teaching is a 16-week, full time field experience; K-12 student teaching is divided into 2, 8-week placements to satisfy licensure requirements. √ Research Placement Locations: √ Out of State Student Teaching √ International Student Teaching - requires an appointment √ You are only guaranteed a student teaching placement; NOT your personal preferences.

Student Teaching Application Process √ Be registered for EDFE 130 the semester prior to student teaching. √ Submit the Request for Placement survey & print the confirmation page. Survey includes:  Resume & Letter of Introduction  3 placement preferences; 6 for K-12 placements √ Submit the complete EDFE 130 paperwork packet by Sept √ Wait as patiently as possible and stay in communication.
