To Market, to Market… Social Studies: Market and money ~Mrs. Hall’s Second grade class

Subject – 2 nd Grade Social Studies Topic – Economics - Markets Objective – Students will be able to explain how people buy and sell goods and services using money. Procedure – A “virtual market” will allow students to shop for goods. Evaluation – A quiz will tests student’s knowledge of the concept of buying goods and services. Materials – Students will be given virtual money and a virtual shopping list. Lesson:

Goods - Things that are sold or things that someone owns, as in leather goods or household goods. Money– The coins and bills that people use to buy things. Important Terms: Market – A place where people buy and sell food or goods. Click on to see a Video tour of a real market: here

Lets go shopping! On the next page will be your empty basket and wallet with the money needed to buy all of the things on your shopping list.
