My Personal Decision  I think that I would personally like to live in Miami. The reason to why I say this is because even though some things are more expensive in Miami, since I have lived in Miami in the past, I think that I would feel more at home than if I were to live in Los Angeles.  Also, in Florida there is no Income Tax.  Similarly, my parents live in Vero Beach Fl. Which is around a two hour drive, thus I can visit them during the long weekends or on holidays. In the other hand, Los Angeles is 38 hours by car and around 7 hours by plane. Also, the plane tickets usually is around $500, which would become a great expense if I travel home twice a year (for Thanksgiving and Christmas)

Graduate Degree Influence

Psychologist Salary per year based on Education  Salary after undergraduate school  On average can vary from minimum wage to around $55,000  Salary after masters degree but varies on psychology specialization and title  $53, 380+  Doctorate but varies on psychology specialization and title  On average was around $68, 640

Psychology Graduate School Cost  Based on Ranking  #1: Stanford University  Cost: $44,757  #2: University of California- Berkeley  Cost: $ 16,293 -$ 31,395  #2: University of California – Los Angeles  $5,069-$10,103 per quarter  #4: Harvard University  $40,416  # 4:Yale University  $37, 6000  #4: University of Michigan- Ann Harbor  $ 13,977- $41, 811

How much a psychologist makes depending on the location LOS ANGELES: Average salary of a psychologist: $72,000 MIAMI: Average salary of a psychologist:$64,000

Pros vs. Cons of Graduate School ProsCons “ expected growth of 22% through the year 2020 ” “ It can be stressful ” Increase in Salary Schedule can vary and have “odd hours” “ work in a social setting ” It takes a long time to get a masters – 7 years + Rewarding because you can aid others

Different types of psychologist titles and salaries per year  Psychiatrist Psychiatrist  $167,610  Industrial-Organizational Psychologist Industrial-Organizational Psychologist  $97,820  Neuropsychologist  $90,460  Engineering Psychologist Engineering Psychologist  $79,818 Clinical Psychologist $72,540 per year Counseling Psychologist $72,540 per year Forensic Psychologist $59,440 School Psychologist $58,360 Sports Psychologist $55,000

Personal Decision  My person decision is that even though graduate school might give me a higher salary as well as experience, I do not think that I will be attending graduate school. I think that the years dedicated to finish graduate school is to expensive compared to the salary that one can receive after attending graduate school. Thus, with this said, I if I do want to specialize in a particular psychology such as a School Psychologist or a clinical psychologist then I will go to graduate school because I think that it will be worth the money and time.  Similarly, to get into these types of graduate schools is going to be extremely hard. Also, if it were to take less time, like for example three years or less, then I might consider the possibility of attending graduate school.  Finally, it also depends on the type of job that I have after I graduate from undergraduate school. If I find it hard to get a job, then it might be rewarding to go to graduate school because I would be investing in something that would give me a better outcome as well as income.
