Upcoming NCATE Visit  NCATE visit scheduled for Fall 2012  Institutional Report submitted Fall 2011  SPA Reports submitted Fall 2010  Minimum of two applications of assessments  All nationally recognized programs may submit a National Continuing Recognition report

NCATE Revisions  Two Options for Continuing Visits  Continuous Improvement  Transformation Initiatives  Address each standard as a whole  Choose a standard in which the unit is moving toward target level  Exhibit room is entirely virtual

Continuing Visit Options  Continuous Improvement  Transformation Initiative

Continuous Improvement  Unit will self assess itself against the target level of one or more standards  Respond to each standard as a whole not each element

Transformation Initiative  Engagement in an initiative for self- improvement and contribution to the improvement and reform of the profession, including learning in P-12 schools  Examples: Validity studies of assessments, induction and mentoring, use of formative assessments to improve student learning  Must be reviewed by offsite BOE team to determine eligibility  Unit must clearly show that it has been engaged in continuous improvement since the last visit and continues to meet standards
