Being the Presence of Christ Global Mission through the eyes of CBF

Our History Created in 1991, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship emerged as a renewal movement within Baptist life in the United States. In a post-denominational world, the CBF understood itself as a movement of God intended to focus upon holistic mission and ministry in the twenty-first century.

Our mission is to collaborate with churches and other groups to engage in holistic missions and ministries with the most neglected people in a world without borders. Our Mission

To empower ministry with and among the least evangelized and most neglected people of the world, those with the greatest spiritual needs and the fewest resources. Our Purpose

Our Vision We will become and be: An advocate and partner to live out the love of Christ among the most neglected in our own communities and around the world. Wise stewards of CBFs resources. Effective communicators of the CBF Global Missions story to inform and inspire our partners and constituents to increasing levels of mission engagement. An excellent organization that makes an impact by employing strategic thinking, good planning, and implementation.

Philosophy of Mission Christ-centered Church-centered Cooperative Holistic Innovative Strategic Responsive

Our Guiding Convictions in 21 st Century Mission The movement of the gospel today from everywhere to everyone. The 21 st century as the century of local congregations in global mission. Partnership (not competition) with national Baptist and Christian denominations in all countries for the purpose of mission and ministry. Integrity in daily ministry.

Global Missional Engagement We strive to serve individuals and churches as they discover and fulfill their God-given mission by offering opportunities to minister contextually, locally, and globally. Because of our global field personnel presence, we can invite churches and individuals into intimate conversation and participation not only in their local context but as a part of a global context.

Global Mission Structure Through CBF Global Missions, approximately 150 field personnel are currently serving among and with the most neglected people of the world All of our work is based on a team model Decisions are made at the point closest to the action We follow a consensus making model for decisions

Types of Field Personnel Service Career AsYouGo (AYG) Global Service Corp (GSC) Student.GO

What is Career Service? Career personnel are strategically placed all over the world among the most neglected and least evangelized. Career Service is fully funded through the CBF Offering for Global Missions. Career personnel seek to minister to and advocate for those who are overlooked. They seek to develop long-term, sustainable ministries by empowering and developing local Christian leaders.

What is AsYouGo (AYG) Service? AsYouGo Affiliate service offers a means for self-supporting personnel to serve through the CBF Global Missions field team structure. This may be through their careerteachers, professors, business people, medical professionals, etc. It may also be through the direct financial support of partners. Regardless of structure, the ultimate goal is to have long-term, self-sustaining ministry.

What is Global Service Corps (GSC)? The Global Service Corps (GSC) provides opportunities for service from one to three years in assignments that fill strategic needs all over the world. The GSC program is fully funded through the CBF Offering for Global Missions. The GSC program is a great option for all types of people - whether they are recently graduating from college or seminary, considering long-term mission service, approaching retirement, or even just wanting a break from their current career.

What is Student.GO? Student.GO is a venture of CBF Global Missions that provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to serve among the unevangelized and marginalized people in our world. Students serve for a summer or a semester alongside CBF Global Missions field personnel and ministry partners in locations around the globe.

Embrace the World The 21st century is the century of local congregations in global mission. This reality is so obvious to me that it seems foolish to even argue with it. God is working now through local congregations as they engage in hands-on mission experiences across the globe. Rob Nash, CBF Global Missions Coordinator CBF Global Missions invites you into deeper relationship and conversation as we seek to collaborate with churches and Christians to participate in holistic ministries with the most neglected people in a world without borders. We are interested in hearing how you are embracing the world and how we can embrace the world together. Tell us by going to
