Presentation transcript:

MassDEP Wind Turbine Noise Technical Advisory Group

“WNTAG” Established as part of EEA’s inter- agency initiative for state energy and environmental agencies to provide support and guidance to municipalities, developers and stakeholders for land- based wind projects.

“WNTAG” Process will likely result in recommended changes to MassDEP noise regulations and/or policies, as they apply to wind turbine noise.

“WNTAG” Noise Standard: How the existing noise policy and regulations are applied to wind turbines. Permitting: MassDEP is considering pre- construction permitting requirements for wind turbines Compliance Monitoring: MassDEP has received comments on technical issues such as meter specifications and settings, data analysis conventions, and sampling duration and intervals.

“WNTAG” These issues will be considered by the WNTAG. Members represent a range of experience and viewpoints with wind turbine and noise issues. Any proposed changes to the regulations or policy by MassDEP will be subject to public review and comment.
