T.Y.P.E Comenius Meeting in Finland 8. – Hyökkälän koulu Activity: A Day In My Life

My schoolday

At school mornings I wake up at seven o`clock. I put on my clothes, eat breakfast and get ready for school. At 7.30 I go to school by bus. My schoolway is 6-7 kilometers, so I have a free schooltransport.

The school starts every day at 8. Today I have first two hours home-economic. We bake or make food. I like home- economic very much!

The next lesson is maths and then we count. Usually we get home- works after every lesson. We also have a lot of tests! We get school reports twice a year: in December and in May- before the holidays.

Between here we have a short brake. In the mean time we move to the next class room. Then we have Finnish. We read, write stories practise grammar, drama and every other sectors of Finnish. We do a lot of exercises ! Pupils sit on the floor and stools waiting on teachers. They speak with friends, do the home-works they`ve forget and things like that. This picture of my class is taken before the lesson.

The lunchbreak is 45 minutes.We have free food in school. During the break the pupils must stay in the school.

The next lesson is English. We have it three times a week. I also have extra-english a double lesson once a week. There learn we more things than in a normal english. We also have to study swedish three times a week, too! And if we will, can we study Germany, French or Spanish too.

The 13th December is Lucia-day Wearing a white gown with a red sash and a crown of candles on her head, she walks holding a candle. The girls sing a Lucia song while entering the room.

We have voted pupils of every class to the student association. There they have a possibility to take part of making decissions in things.They have an own room, which is called ”the pink room”. student association

The student association arrange different events. For example brownie`s cap-day (look at the picture) and Valentines- day.They also give money to classtrips and scholarships.

I like to be with my friends in my speartime. I took this picturs of my friends when we made a birthdaycake. When we are together, we like to shopping, snowboar- ding or only talk together for example! I have friends in Finland, Sweden (My mum comes from Sweden so we speak Swedish at home and have lots of friends and relatives there!) and
