Life & Living Things: Ecology To Teacher Page

Objective: State the relationship between producer/consumer and the function of a Food Chain. (Strand VIII-A5) Related Vocabulary: food chain Activity: 1. The students will identify the living things. 2. The students will identify the order in which the the food chain happens. 3. The students will identify the importance of the order. Process: 1. The teacher will click through each of the slides, reading the instructions to the students. 2. Each slide is self-explanatory, but the teacher should run through the lesson prior to presenting them to the students. Related Activity: Each lesson is followed by a journal activity of some kind.

Living Things Identifying the Relationship between Producer/Consumer and the Function of Food Chains

Look at the pictures of these living things. Write the names of the three living things in correct order to show a food chain. Green Plants Snake Mice

Snake Mice Green Plants Did you list them in this order? Give two reasons why the three living things must be listed in the order you have chosen. JOURNAL:

Look at the pictures of these living things. Owl Snake Rabbits Write the names of the three living things in correct order to show a food chain.

Owl Snake Rabbits Did you list them in order? JOURNAL: Give two reasons why the three living things must be listed in the order you have chosen.

Culminating Journal: Answer these questions: 1. Why do you think Food Webs are important? 2. What would happen if there were too many of one kind of animal? 3. How would the environment be affected by too many of one kind of animal?
