A ROAD MAP FOR TEENS Step 1: Knowing yourself Who are you? What is important to you? Likes? Interests? Step 2: Exploring possibilities try out different areas, list of options that best fit you – networking, try things out Step 3: Making a choice goal setting (50% more likely to achieve goals if written down) Step 4: Making it happen Putting your plan into action and learning along the way – learning is life long, focus on the journey as well Step 5: Re-evaluate/Re-assess The workplace of today for Canada’s youth: - An average of 17 employment transitions in their working lifetime. - A variety of occupations in up to five different sectors of the economy - Planned and unplanned gaps of no work (Source: Guiding Youth: Finding a Career Path and Connecting to Work)
