 Owls have to swallow their small bits of food whole and with their lager bits of food they rip it up.  They feed on mice, rats, small mammals, and quite a lot of human food they also like BIG hu hu grubs.  Hollow trees are their favourite type of tree to nest in because they are very roomy to create a family in. Poor mouse!

 Owls have developed special feather adaptations that enable them to minimize the sound when flapping their wing’s.  Most owls are active at night a few species(such as the pygmy owls) are active in the early morning or at dusk while some owls(such as the burrowing owl and the short eared owl are active during the day.  Owls create a wide variety of sounds. The familiar hoot is usually a territorial declartion, though not all species are able to Hoot. Other sounds owls might make include screehes, hisses and screams.
