How many species are living in the Arctic By Megan

 This is my Introduction to my paragraph.  I know how about animals living in the arctic and how many there are. I think that there are many animals living in the arctic. There are animals living all around the world but the ones I am most interested in are the polar or arctic animals. They are some of the most endangered animals with the ice melting and they are running out of food and they have no place to live. Can you think about how many species there are? Well, here are some the arctic fox, the arctic hare, arctic polar bears, the caribou, the collared lemming, the white horned sheep, the Muskox, the narwhal whale, bow headed whales, the snowy owl, the walrus, and the wolverine. As you can see here a lot of species that live in the arctic.

The arctic fox lives in the most frigid temperatures but the fur coat and the fat from it keeps it warm. It also has furry paws to walk across the icy Tundra and then they can get food for their race of animals. Polar Bears are carnivores and they are getting extinct but they do live up to 30 years so maybe they aren’t getting extinct they are the kings of the food chain

The Arctic Hare is living in the harsh part of the North America Tundra. It is inches tall. Also it is very small; It weighs 6-15 pounds in size. The Females have a litter every year or 2 and they eat berries, buds also. Basically they are other regular bunny rabbits because they eat the same food but they don’t live in the same habitat, So on the snowy owl is a practically small animal too and they eat the hares actually and other small like rodents. They have 2 or 1 egg at a time and they also hunt for the family. The snowy owls rely on their hearing too since they can’t see their prey at night. They use their hearing to find their prey stalking through the night. After they search and hunt during the night, the snowy owls sleep during the day.

I went to the nature center with my class and I learned about many different animals that are kind of like the animals living in the arctic. They told us about the wolfs that mysteriously showed up on an island and moose that their population went down when the wolfs came there. Also the wolf’s population went down because the moose were all gone. But I guess there were more animals. But I’m sure they liked a good moose once and while?

The Regular old Penguin is coming up time to time. I am going to talk about the Emperor Penguin, it is one of the tallest Penguins in the world and they eat shrimp or krill. It stands at some 45 inches tall and they survive in -76 degrees weather. Men sit on the eggs and then women go on a long journey some do not come back. We’ll women are gone they literally have nothing to eat because they can’t leave their egg unattended so they have to wait for women to come back and in that short time they egg will hatch. The walrus lives in the sea of the arctic tundra they have long tusks and mustache whiskers. They snort very loudly at their companion’s kind of like talking and they are 7.25 ft-11.5 ft.

The bow headed whales are one of the last animals I am going to talk about. The bow headed they have a lovely figure as you have seen in other pictures. The bow head travels in the arctic and travels in sixes or alone they are maybe the animal kind that you wouldn’t see at your regular zoo. The last animal is the wolverine and no it is not the University of Michigan wolverine it is the regular animal the wolverine. The wolverine is one of the most vicious animals one you want to watch out for. In conclusion to my thesis I am just going to say that to read more about this go to National Geographic kids, National geographic, Wikipedia, and another website I cannot remember (just search arctic animals). My statement is that there are more than polar bears and seals.
