CEVIS handles There are lots of videos on youtube showing how the crew “rides” the CEVIS. The one done by Koichi Wakata is good and shows both operation and the folding for stowage. Cycle Ergometer Vibration Isolation System

The cycle ergometer is the white cloth covered box in the middle. The Vibration isolation system is composed of the frame that holds the cycle ergometer and the wire balls that connect the frame to the station. The wire balls are covered in cloth and act as springs to prevent the vibrations from the exercising crew member from wiggling the whole station. The Ergometer portion folds down to get out of the way when crew isn’t using it. These two pictures were taken when the

Sometimes when the crew is riding, they need a handle to help them position themselves or to stabilize the ergometer. The Bogen Arms work for this purpose because they are very adjustable and can be positioned to the needs of each person. However, the Bogen Arms are not the ideal handle due to their shape and also the engineering team is concerned that the ball joints of the Bogen Arms are worn down over time as they are not intended for the forces applied to them.

Multi-Use Bracket (MUB) also know as a Bogen Arm Bogen Arms are a commercial product that have been modified to have NASA style ends. They have a seat track foot on one side and a Camera Shoe on the other. When the central handle is loosened the two ball ends and the center joint loosen and the arm is floppy and can be positioned as desired. Once the center handle is tightened, the joint and ball ends lock in the current position and are difficult to move. The problem is that it isn’t designed to handle lots of pushing and pulling while in the lock position so the ball joints start getting loose. They are also not an ideal or comfortable handle.

IP Clamp A Bogen Arm is attached to the seat track of an IP Clamp. This is also a commercial camera device that has been modified by NASA by placing the seat track button on one side. They are very good for clamping onto a square rail like that of the CEVIS. The IP Clamp allows the crew to slide the Bogen Arms up or down the rail to the comfortable position for them.
