Georgia Performance Standard c. Explain that some things are made locally, some elsewhere in the country, and some in other countries SS3E3 The student will give examples of interdependence and trade and will explain how voluntary exchange benefits both parties.

Economy The way a country manages its money and resources (such as workers and land) to produce, buy, and sell goods and services. Goods are products like cars, computers, or even corn! The United States has a free-market economy. That means people can freely buy and trade goods and services. It’s All About the Money, Honey !

Trading When you trade, you are exchanging one thing for another.

Import To bring in goods or materials from a foreign country for trade or sale. Goods imported to America- Cars Clothes Food Even parts of your pencils are imported!

Export Things that are made in the U.S that are sold or traded to another country. Things that America exports- Cereal! Appliances (refrigerator, microwave, washing machine, dish washer, etc.) Telecommunication (phones!)

Interdependence Dependent on others for some needs. You can’t produce everything you need, so you have to ask someone for a little help! We depend on farmers so that we can have good food like vegetables and meats!
