I. Why is Time Management Important? A. Adults: manage work time vs. home time B. Students: manage play time vs. study time

II. Time Management A. Time can be most valuable ally or worst enemy B. Time never goes backwards C. USE TIME WISELY!!!!!!! D. Time management--planning how to use your time E. Students--most of your time already planned 1. school 2. sports 3. work F. Your time needs planned: 1. studying 2. chores 3. relaxation and fun G. Time Log--written record of a person ’ s use of time Example on page 141

III. IRS Time A. Individual Responsibility for Saving Time 1. this is a way to help manage your money B. Use these suggestions 1. make a to-do list every day 2. prioritize 3. do NOT procrastinate 4. reduce interruptions in your planning time 5. focus on one thing at a time

V. Taking Notes 1. use one side of a sheet of paper 2. number each page 3. leave a margin at the top of the page 4. write down only important points 5. use an outline format 6. use symbols and abbreviations 7. write notes to yourself in the margins

1. be relaxed and be positive 2. look over the entire test before starting 3. read and follow ALL directions 4. Read each test question carefully 5. think before you write your answer 6. tough question--skip it and return later 7. review before turning in VII. Taking the Test

VIII. When you get your test back. 1. congratulate yourself for correct answers 2. learn from your mistakes 3. read the teacher ’ s comments 4. ask for help 5. begin to prepare for the next test
