Purpose Create an environment that presents the way electronic communication takes place on the Internet, without actual being connected Provide a platform to serve as a Learning Management System for courses

Equipment Used Server Pentium III 1 Gigahertz computer or faster 512 MB of Memory or more Running Windows XP Hard Drive space as needed Client Computers Pentium III 1 Gigahertz computer or faster 256 MB of Memory or more Running Windows XP Hard Drive space as needed

Software Used Moodle, Modular Object Oriented Distributed Learning Environment Web Reaper, program for harvesting websites from the Internet EasyPHP, Program that provides web server and data driven web pages Nvu, Website Creation tool

Moodle A full featured Learning Management System with capabilities similar to WebCT and BlackBoard Open source and available for use free of charge Large, active community of users

Web Reaper Allows for harvesting of websites Works well for basic HTML websites Does not work for server-side websites Freeware program that is available for use free of charge

EasyPHP Provides the tools necessary to run Moodle Provides MySQL for Databases Provides Apache Web server to server both Moodle and other websites Provides PHP usage for Data driven web pages

Nvu Allows instructor to create web pages for class to view in either Moodle or a web browser Allows students to create websites Freeware available for use free of charge
