Gracious Professionalism Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST. It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. “In the long run, gracious professionalism is part of pursuing a meaningful life. If one becomes a professional, and uses knowledge in a gracious manner, everyone wins. One can add to society and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that you have acted with integrity and sensitivity. That’s good stuff!” – Dr. Woodie Flowers, FIRST National Advisor

What To Expect Team Interviews Talking with Teams in their Pits Gathering Information from Matches and Pit Observtions Working with other judges to arrive to the best conclusion possible. Remember there are no perfect answers.

Before the Event Read the Judging Manual Have a good grasp on Awards and Award qualifications Think of Interview questions. What will you ask the teams? Think of questions about judging to ask your Judge Advisor.

Awards?? During the day you will be awarding various awards to the teams based on their interviews and general observations throughout the day. ●Think Award ●PTC Design Award ●Rockwell Collins Innovate Award ●Connect Award ●Motivate Award ●Inspire Award ●Control Award ●Promote Award ●Compass Award

What will your day look like ●Arrive around 8:00am ●Judging Interviews ●Opening Ceremonies ●Initial Deliberations ●Pit Interviews and Match Observations ●Final Deliberations ●Awards Script Writing ●Closing Ceremonies

Remember Be friendly with the teams, coaches, parents, volunteers, etc. The teams worked hard to be there; show them how proud you are of them Be flexible during the day. Although there is a schedule, it is not set in stone and could change slightly. There is no perfect answer to judging and giving awards. Have a positive attitude, anything can happen. Have FUN!!!
