What is Pre-concussion testing Pre-concussion or baseline testing is a computer test administered by a health professional (Athletic trainer) to assess an athletes balance, and brain function. It measures learning and memory skills, ability to pay attention or concentrate, and how quickly the student can solve problems. The ImPACT test is used by the Delano school district for all children in grades 7-12 who participate in contact sports for the school. Image C is a scan of a normal student athlete before a concussion. Image B is the image of is student athlete that has suffered a concussion Hadfield, J. (2008, March 13). Baylor research team captures first pictures of post-concussion brain swelling.
