1 Pilot – 2 Activities Activity #1 ICT solution Testing of tele-monitoring devices for the Elderly Emergency calls centre & training for users In Nitra Activity #2 Informal Homecare Training of caregivers in 2 stages Raising awareness among target groups and promoting informal homecare In Nitra & Petržalka

Nitra 5th largest city in Slovakia 83 thousand inhabitants

Petržalka City district of Bratislava 112 thousand inhabitants

Activity #1 Comparison of two different systems: –Mobile tele-monitoring devices using modern technology –Innovative upgrade of the existing system which enables the use of advanced peripheries Focused on: –Removing barriers and reducing social exclusion –Financial sustainability and purchasing power of target groups

Activity #1 Goal: –Finding the most adequate system for use in the Slovak conditions bearing in mind both sustainability and innovation –Operation of the system after the end of the HELPS project

Activity #2 Publishing a leaflet promoting informal homecare and raising awareness among target groups 20 people will be trained in providing home based care to vulnerable groups (10 from each city): –Employees of town halls and municipal organizations responsible for the social affairs –People most familiar with local conditions and with best access to promote the informal homecare

Activity #2 2-stage training course: –Workshop –Field trip Training course topics: 1.Field social services for the Elderly – new trends in the EU 2.Foreign examples of innovative services 3.Use and benefits of ICT systems 4.Communication with the Elderly –Topics were consulted with participants

Plan of Implementation Activity #1: –Implementation & Testing – October and 1 st half of November 2013 Activity #2: –Workshop and field trip – September 2013

Current Status Procurement processes for both activities are about to begin Participants of the training courses were already selected by the participating cities First meeting of LSG – this Thursday, Feb 28 in Nitra

Local Support Group Members: –Representatives of PP11 + PP12 –Social affairs department – City of Nitra Town Hall –Comenius University in Bratislava, Faculty of Philosophy –Tele-monitoring system provider (TBD) –Interest groups

Local Support Group Interest groups represented by: –Volunteering Centre in Nitra –Diocese Charity in Nitra –Day Centre in City District Chrenová –Slovak Union of People with Disabilities –branch of Slovak pensioners organization Focused mostly on testing of the tele-monitoring devices (Activity #1)
