PROGRESS education sector To date, 23,966 children in school NIMBA OVERALL: 4,800 CHILDREN (Liberian+Ivorian) IN ECD/PRIMARY Teacher training manual being standardized Butuo axis (SC): Attendance: 93 ECCD and 1,298 Primary school children Loguatuo axis (IRC): 768 children attended primary school. 666 Children participated in recreation activities. Bahn camp (SC):attendance is 699 Primary, and 95 ECD Back to School Campaign in Bahn City ongoing Gborplay axis (PLAN): 1,148 primary students enrolled Selection of ECD caregivers/animators ongoing

PROGRESS education sector Grand Gedeh OVERALL: 8,100 CHILDREN (Liberian+Ivorian) IN ECD/PRIMARY 849 ECD and 7,216 Primary children enrolled Back to School Campaign ongoing Textbooks and learning materials distributed in Zai Town for Grade 1 to 6 and 481 book-bags distributed. 10 new tents erected in Ziah camp (total 22 tents in operation) Maryland 1,808 children attending Primary schools Expanding interventions from 4 to 7 locations 2 tents, 7 school-in-a-box, 1,066 learners kits (7,491 pieces of stationery), 6,041 textbooks (1,386 sets) distributed. 60 Ivorian teachers identified, 55 working regularly in 7 schools. River Gee Education sector working group has been set up, first meeting held EIE plan of action drafted and shared with partners for review.

CHALLENGES education sector NIMBA Irregular attendance of children GRAND GEDEH PTAs engagement on school management limited due to farming and other activities of parents Lack of school furniture/ZERO furniture in Ziah Camp Fluid attendance rate parents go back to Ivory Coast in search of food, children left home alone, not attending schools MARYLAND Teacher incentives still not paid RIVERGEE Interventions will depend on outcome of relocation exercise

WAY FORWARD education sector Back to School campaigns to continue in September Manufacture/procurement and distribution of furniture Resolution on payment of teachers incentives UNICEF to intervene in River Gee in locations with at least 500 refugees after relocation exercise
