Adding Suffixes Learning to recognize prefixes, suffixes, and root words will help you be able to read and spell longer words. We have already talked about some rules for adding suffixes to words that end with magic e.

Adding Suffixes love lovable lovely Let's Review. When a word ends in magic e, you drop the e before adding a suffix that begins with a vowel. You keep the e before a suffix beginning with a consonant. love lovable lovely
