START WITH THE CLAUSE

A Clause is a group of words containing a Subject and a Verb. e.g: a. other conditions for germination concern the amount of moisture in the soil. other conditions for germination concern subject verbal the amount of moisture in the soil. b. the icons in the window represent the settings you can change by using Control Panel. c. After 10 years of faithful service, a couple’s refrigerator gives out.

A sentence may consist of one or more clauses. e.g: This compartmentalized apoplast would allow water to return to the xylem, but would also transmit xylem tension back to the seeds. This compartmentalized apoplast would allow Subjectverbal water to return to the xylem, but This compartmentalized apoplast would also transmit Subjectverbal xylem tension back to the seeds.

A phrase is a group of words lacking either a subject or a verb. e.g: nominal phrase: the peasants need an animal-drawn adjustable high-wing ridging plough in cultivating the land. Verbal phrase: the children have been complaining for the last half an hour. Adjective phrase: no one seems to know who the very handsome tall man is. Adverbial phrase: the farmers planted the herbs in the shadow of the perennial trees.

EXERCISE 1. Consequently, the role of these tillers as a source of C and N for main stem and early-formed tillers is a factor that should be considered in answering the question of the agronomic value of tillers in the Mediterranean climatic region. 2. A controlling mechanism other than seed weight modified seed yield potential. 3. In program manager, to start MS_DOS Prompt, choose the main group icon. 4. The remobilization of 13C and 15N among the plant parts show the origin of the grain C and N. 5. Seed density measures dry weight per unit fresh seed volume, requiring average volume of the excised fresh seed and dry weight per seed.

6. These membranes do not require intact lipid bilayers, but stain positively for the presence of suberin (Welbaum and Bradford, 1990). 7. The two rates of development of leaf water deficit clearly affected the utilization and remobilization of preanthesis stored C and N as suggested in our previous paper (Kobata et al., 1992) 8. The testing for two alternate hypotheses uses direction of response and, therefore, a one-tailed t-test. 9. A schematic diagram of a simple source and sink pathway from a leaf to developing embryo. 10. The testing for three alternate hypotheses uses direction of response and, therefore, a one-tailed t-test.

ABSTRACT Maize at 2 densities was intercropped with sweet potato at 1 density and 6 fertilizer treatments. The design was 2x6 factorial with 3 replications; fertilizer treatments were combinations of N, P and K. The result suggested that increasing the density of maize decreased the yield of sweet potato by 11.33%. N fertilizer applied to sweet potato increased the yield of sweet potato but did not affect maize. P and K applied together but without N also increased yield, but there was no affect of P and addition to N. without fertilizer, the net return of low density maize was higher than that of high density maize. Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas Poir) has been cultivated by farmers in east java in upland areas during thE rainy season or in rice field during the dry season. The production potential in the farmer’s field varied. The difference in productivity of sweet potato might be due to the variability in cultural practices. Efforts to increase the productivity of sweet potato are still being done by farmers. In several regions farmers use fertilizer to increase the yield of sweet potato intercropped with maize. However, the effect of fertilizer on sweet potato and maize as intercrop is still unknown. The research was done to help farmers having information on the fertilizer needed by maize planted as intercrop of sweet potato.

MATHEMATICS The word “mathematics” comes from the Greek mathematica, meaning “things that are learned”. It may seem odd to apply this phrase to a single field of knowledge, but we should point out that for the ancient Greeks, mathematics included not only the study of numbers and space but also astronomy and music. Nowadays, of course, we do not think of astronomy and music as mathematical subjects; yet the scope of mathematics today is broader than ever.
