Afghanistan Located in West Asia 251,772 square miles in 2012, an estimated 30,419,928 people live in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a mountainous country in a dry part of the world which experiences extremes of climate and weather. Winters are cold and snowy, and summers hot and dry. 99% of the Afghan population are Muslims. Only one Jewish man lives in Afghanistan. Like Americans, Afghans drive on the right hand side of the road.

Bangladesh Located in South Asia million people were estimated to live here in ,977 square miles Bangladesh has a subtropical monsoon climate characterized by wide seasonal variations in rainfall, moderately warm temperatures, and high humidity. Three seasons are generally recognized: a hot, humid summer, cool, rainy monsoon season, and a cool, dry winter. Bangladesh produces about 80 films a year. The most popular sport in Bangladesh is cricket.

India Located in South Asia 1,269,219 square miles In 2012, an estimated 1,210,193,422 people lived in India. The whole of India has a tropical monsoonal climate, since the greater part of the country lies within the trophies, and the climate is influenced by the monsoons. India is the largest democracy in the world. It is illegal to take Indian currency out of India.

Iran Located in West Asia 636,372 square miles 75,149,669 people were estimated to live in Iran in 2012 Iran has an arid climate in which most of the relatively scant annual precipitation falls from October through April Iran is home to the Mausoleum of Maussollos, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Iran is home to the Asiatic Cheetah which is on the critically endangered species list.

Iraq Located in West Asia 169,234 square miles 31,129,225 people were estimated to live in Iraq in 2012 Iraq experiences its wet season from winter through early spring, with hot, dry summers. Temperatures frequently exceed 100F during late spring and summer afternoons, and will often remain above 80F overnight during the summer. Iraq experiences some extremes in climate, but winters are usually rather mild with night time temperatures often remaining above freezing. Iraq’s nickname is the “cradle of civilization.” The Iraqi desert is home to many types of scorpions. Some can grow up to 8" long

Israel Located in West Asia 8,522 square miles In 2012, an estimated 7,968,300 people lived in Israel Israel is in a subtropical region, between the temperate zone and the tropical zone. The northern and coastal regions of Israel show Mediterranean climate characterized by hot and dry summers and cool rainy winters. Whereas the southern and eastern areas of Israel are characterized by an arid climate. Israel is ranked #2 in the world for venture capital funds right behind the US. Israel is the only liberal democracy in the Middle East.

Japan Located in East Asia 145,925 square miles An estimated 126,659,683 people lived in Japan in 2012 The climate varies widely from one region to region. Most parts of the country has four distinct seasons. Raw horse meat is a popular food in Japan. Mt. Fuji, the tallest mountain in Japan, is an active volcano.

Philippines Located in Southeast Asia 186,420 square miles In 2010 an estimated 92,337,852 people lived in Philippines The Philippine’s climate is hot, humid, and tropical. Most people cook with an open fire and they burn their trash so it constantly smells like smoke. There are 1,268 Chocolate Hills on the island of Bohol.

Jordan Located in West Asia 35,637 square miles In 2011, 6,508,271 people were estimated to live in Jordan. Jordan is hot, dry climate characterized by long, hot, dry summers and short, cool winters. The official name of Jordan is the ‘Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’. The currency of Jordan is Jordanian Dinar.
