Balance -Applying to college is a balancing act between completing daily tasks like filling out applications, requesting transcripts, sending standardized test scores, writing essays, etc., while also thinking about the bigger picture of the 7 P’s and using discernment.

Transcript Requests -Transcript requests will be accepted through Naviance beginning September 14 th -Students should only request transcripts if they are sure that they will file an application -UC and CSU’s DO NOT Require initial transcripts -Transcript requests must be made two weeks in advance of an application deadline which can be tracked in Naviance

Timing for Students Right Now: -Work on Applications -Register for the Common App/UC App -Work on Essays -Refine College List -Research & Visit Colleges -Request letters of rec September: -Meet with admission reps at ND -Attend JET Fair (Bell) -Take ACT/SAT/SAT Subject Tests -Request transcripts (9/14)
Timing for Students October/November: -Submit applications -Submit the CSS Profile (if necessary) -Thank teachers December/January: -Notification of EA/ED -Begin the FAFSA Financial Aid application
Developing a Final List -Students should begin narrowing down choices, but continue to research -Final list should include 6-8 colleges and may include “reach” schools, but must include “likely” schools -UC and CSU Schools will ALWAYS be Reach Schools -Each school should be a good fit for the student, regardless of selectivity
First Semester Important Dates -September 4 th : Mentoring Presentation -September 13 th : JET Fair at Bellarmine -September 14 th : Transcript request processing begins -October 19 th : Last day for transcript requests for many Early Action and Early Decision applications -November 1 st : Early deadline at many colleges -November 16 th : Recommended date by which all transcript requests are made -December 1 st : College Financial Aid Info Night 7pm -December 4 th : Out of State Fair
