Marlee Matlin Received worldwide critical acclaim for her motion picture debut in Paramount Pictures' "Children of a Lesser God. At age 21, she became the youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar and one of only four actresses to receive that honor for a film debut. Marlee was also honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association with the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama. That same year she was honored by Harper's Bazaar Magazine as one of the "The Ten Most Beautiful Women" and Esquire Magazine's "Women We Love."
Marlee Matlin Was born and raised in Morton Grove, Illinois, Marlee started acting at the age of seven in the role of Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" at a children's theatre company in Chicago. Although Marlee is hearing impaired she does not let that stop her. She is an accomplished actress and author. Marlee often takes time out to visit hearing and hearing impaired children during filiming. She has traveled extensively throughout Australia, England, Italy, Germany, Russia, Croatia, Mexico and Canada.
