Facing Inclusion by Co-Teaching

Theoretical framework of our lesson Inclusion Social Skills –Discussion Learning environment Different styles of learning Co-teaching –Using four of them (Cook & Friend) –Reason for having different tasks –Evaluation

Task 1 Introduction to social skills -Team teaching - drama -Different ways of teaching the same thing  Taking into a consideration different learning styles -Social skills - taking turns, empathy, negotiating, listening, controlling anger, disagreeing in “non-hurtful” way, including everyone

Task 2 Problem solving in groups -Parallel teaching - teaching the same content in different ways in every group -Social skills - negotiation, communication, listening, clarifying ideas, be open for new opinion, asking for justification

Task 3 ”A hassle” -One teaching, others assisting -”a trick” - Social skills - respecting others, empathy, ignoring distractions, self-control, self-reflection -Learning environment - different positions in the classroom - ”tool”

Task 4 Disabilities - Station teaching - four stations with different tasks - Social skills - Communication skills (verbal and non-verbal), empathy, accept peoples differences -Learning environment - different locations

Some final thoughts… Insight of learning –Constructive –Learning by doing (practical) –Learning by questioning (Socrates) Our reflection about the group work

Questions? … Comments?
