Zombie Apocalypse Day 1

Day 1: Warm Up Focus Question: How are the images you see in a mirror both similar and different from the image being reflected?

Day 2: Homework Review Johnny said he reflected this image over the x-axis and recorded the following points: A’ (3,2), B’ (3,4), C’ (5,4), D’ (5,9), E’ (7,9), F’ (7,4), G’ (9,4), H’ (9,2). Did he do the reflection correctly, why or why not?

Day 3: Warm Up Watch this snowboard Zombie take on this circular rail. Describe what you notice about his movements. What changes? What stays the same? Be sure to include as much detail as possible.

Day 3 Rotations

Day 4: Homework Review Johnny said he rotated this image180 degrees about the origin and recorded the following points for his new image: A’ (-3,2), B’ (-3,4), C’ (-5,4), D’ (-5,8), E’ (-7,8), F’ (-7,4), G’ (-9,4), H’ (-9,2). Did he do the rotation correctly, why or why not? Did he do the reflection correctly, why or why not?

Day 5 Warm up This Human is training for Zombie survival by solving this puzzle. Describe what he is doing to prepare for his tasks ahead. Use as many details as possible.

Day 5 Translations

Zombie Apocalypse Game Rules: Limitations: No Zombie can overlap another Zombie on any anchor point. You cannot eat each other! IF you do, you lost that turn. Each Zombie must state his or her transformation before moving his or her Zombie Pre-Image; this “Zombie think time” will be timed with a sand timer. (Zombies need wait time of course!) Only one Zombie moves at a time. No Zombie Herds! A Translation cannot exceed more than 10 segments. For example: 5 to the right, 5 down. (Why? Zombies can only count up to ten of course!) A Rotation must include a reference point to be rotated about/around. (Zombies get confused and run in circles) A Reflection can occur over any lie Zombies check other Zombies movements In order to make sure the scientists do not confuse you with another Zombie, each Zombie must log their transformations to justify their identity. How to move: In order to transform (move) you must roll a pair of dice. If you roll: – A 1 or a 2: You must use a Reflection – A 3 or a 4: You must use a Rotation – A 5,6 you must use a Translation – Doubles: #1-3: The Zombie to your right chooses your movement for you – Doubles: #4-6: You choose which 2 Transformations to use (however you may not choose 2 of the same)
