We have created ‘challenge bags’ – each bag has a cool activity in and a timer. The pupils open it up, complete the challenge and try to beat the current.

Presentation transcript:

We have created ‘challenge bags’ – each bag has a cool activity in and a timer. The pupils open it up, complete the challenge and try to beat the current class record. We have Nathan attempting to match up nuts and bolts, a zip challenge (for dressing)....all sorts!

For early finishers or for when the task doesn’t last as long as expected we made a challenge bucket. Take a tub, open it, unfold the worksheet, complete it! Simple.

To help restless legs and fidgeting we have created a ‘I need to move’ area- pupils who are losing concentration are encouraged to choose a stick, complete the activity and then return to work.

We wanted to make more of our breakfast opportunity and improve functional mathematics. We have created ‘Clever Menus’. On one side we have the item ‘for sale’ and how much it costs. On the flip side we have a visual representation of how to make that amount using money.

We got creative with our units! Here we have a new set of ‘roads’ which happen to teach number formation (Owen). A chalk board surface to practice writing on (Nickayla). Lucy is demonstrating ‘The Addition Machine’ – balls in the top are collected in one basket at the bottom – this helps to increase understanding of addition.

We got creative with padlocks. There are 3 new games in our group. Challenge 1 – match the numbered padlock to the key (which has dots to count on it), this helps with 1:1 correspondence, fine motor and number recognition. Owen set the chicken timer and managed 5 in 5 minutes! We also have a number bonds to 10 game – the padlocks have numbers on and the keys have the corresponding number required to make it up to 10! Watch this space for alphabet padlocks – the keys have pictures on and the padlocks have a letter on – can you match the picture key to the letter padlock?

We are proud – we decided to let the pupils choose a piece of work and say why they are proud of it. The pupils are enjoying choosing different pieces of work to use in our ever changing display!
