Slide 5 Back to the Promises... Promises are means to fulfil the Master Plan The “seed” is often mentioned And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring (seed) and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. (Genesis 3v15)

Slide 6 Back to the Promises... Seed also appears in the Promises made to Abraham  Genesis 22v17-18 Also in the Promises made to David When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom. (2 Samuel 7v12)

Slide 8 Why do we need Jesus? Sin separates us from God Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59v1,2)

Slide 9 Why do we need Jesus? We need to have sin removed to be reconciled back to God That is why Jesus is called “Jesus” She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1v21)

He is to lay his hand on its head and slaughter it before the LORD. (Leviticus 4v4)

Slide 13 How can Jesus save us? Why was there a law? Unravelling a mystery  Appreciate solution if understand problem Law makes us understand the problem  We are sinners! What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was put into effect through angels by a mediator. (Galatians 3v19)

Slide 14 How can Jesus save us? Why was there a law? The law makes us realise our true position without God We are without hope! The law is our TEACHER….  Galatians 3v24

Slide 15 How can Jesus save us? Jesus - a covering for sin? Sacrifice is necessary for forgiveness of sins Old Testament sacrifices point forward to crucifixion of Jesus …But now he (Jesus) has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself... so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Slide 23 Son of God and Son of Man Jesus understood our nature and conquered it  Romans 8v3,4 He can set us free from sin because he was never captured by it For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
